Well, how better than by having a good lunch in the European City of Culture, Liverpool. And the building work - sparked by the honours - is almost finished. A few months ago, a retired docker in whose company I was clambering over chicanes on The Strand (behind the Liver Buildings) told me: "You know, love, they've had eight hundred years to plan for this."
Well, it's true. But the planning was sound and the old girl has scrubbed up well.
Which brings me to the point. You need to plan and you need to polish. And you need to let the magic happen.
